There's been so much hype & speculation surrounding this book that the temptation was too much for me and I purchased the whole trilogy at the airport last week...and I have to confess, I have met my perfect man. Christian Grey has surely raised the bar of women's standards for good - whips, chains and all! The book's origin derives from a fan fictional piece based on Meyers' addictive 'Twilight' series, and as that took off in the literary and film world, James withdrew the piece (formerly known as 'The Master of the Universe') from the different Twilight fan websites and started placing it elsewhere. It was officially released in 2011 by a small-scale coffee shop publishing house before it became really noticed and finally got the credit it deserved with a makeover and official release in April 2012. Safe to say this book has gone global and is officially the fastest selling paperback of all time, even surpassing the golden child of modern-day literature: 'Harry Potter'...who knew it was even possible? One thing is for sure, I would rather be reading about sexual contracts, helicopter rides and a possesive billionaire rather than 4 headed dogs, wizards and chocolate frogs.
PS. I vote Ed Westwick as Christian Grey in the film - gives him a chance to explore & build upon the foundation he created with the Chuck Bass character. Universal Pictures/Focus Features...I hope you're listening!!!!
