Don't Wake Me Up - Chris Brown
The perfect Summer tune! Beach parties, nights out, BBQs, table top dancing - THIS is one of the best songs of the season so far! Chris Brown (AKA Wifebeater of the Year 2009) with all his many faults is still one of the best R&B singers and dancers out there, and this song proves it.
Shake It Out - Florence & The Machine
'Looking for heaven, found the devil in me'...the lyrics of this song are so quirky and so adaptable. Written by Florence & Paul Epworth (apparently within just an hour) it has definitely not been given the credit it deserves in the music world. Recently covered by the cast of both Glee & Smash! it is slowly following in the footsteps of "Don't Stop Believing' and creeping its way back into the limelight after it's original release in November 2011.
Picking Up The Pieces - Paloma Faith
Never really been much of a Paloma fan before, but this song caught my eye when it came on one of the music channels and the video was so haunting, what with the artist melting into a pile of wax, (Paloma has recently said that the video was inspired by David Lynch's infamous 'Twin Peaks'). I googled & gave it a good listen, find that the chorus is really catchy (like, really catchy!) Yeah its a bit of a predictable modern-day, girly pop ballad...but I'm a girl and I like cheesy music - so sue me!!
A Thousand & One Nights - Smash! Cast
This programme is like a drug...and I am addicted! The tension, the bitching, the sex, the characters, but more importantly the soundtrack!!!! I love the fact that this programme has a balance of original and cover songs. I've enjoyed them all, but this one, was incredible! I have had it on repeat constantly, it just brings a smile to my face. I felt that the song shows the absolute diversity of Shaiman and Whitman, even if it’s not a genre of music that you’d perhaps normally associate them with!
