Cheshire Life

Unbelievably it is already the second week of June, and we in Chester are on the cusp of what looks to be an incredible Summer - so many new things are happening, so many new places are opening & so much to talk about & look forward to...
ChesterRocks & Chestival
Anyone who knows me knows I am pro-Chester all the way, a proper Cestrian born & bred here and not really ever wanting to be anywhere else. I think what Chester Racecourse & MBNA are doing through these 2 big events is extremely commendable...a true reason to celebrate this amazing city! ChesterRocks returns for a 2nd year and is a success in itself with so many mainstream headliners such as Pixie Lott, The Courteneers, KatyB, Tinchy Stryder & Labrinth taking to the stage at The Racecourse. There's something about this kind of event that creates a buzz in the city, and the grand scale of it is nothing like Chester has ever hosted before. Chestival's second run includes a variety of weird & wonderful displays like the Annual Summer Music Festival, Street Carnival, readings by Germaine Greer & the Amphitheatre Open Air Cinema...basking in a giant Roman semi-circle watching Breakfast at Tiffany's under the stars? Sounds okay to me!

MiFest 2012
It's the talk on everybody's lips (and the catalyst of some rather heated Facebook debates!) at the moment as it's something completely new & fresh. MiFest is a local 2 day camping festival based between Chester & Wrexham. Lots of big producers, bands & DJs appearing and it's gonna be huge...by the looks of things hardly anyone under the age of 25 from the North West ISN'T going to be there. You can see how much hard work has gone into putting MiFest together - can't wait to see the end result.

And what with the newly refurbed Oddfellows, The Boathouse, the supposed shutting down of the Michael Caines Restaurant at The Abode and the crazy rumours that we might be getting a city centre Nandos AND Restaurant Bar & Grill...it looks like for Chester...'The Only Way Is Up'
